For ten years we have created productions of classic works that entertain and inspire students. We have traveled across Canada and the United States, meeting educators and theatre presenters to share our work. What we have heard repeatedly is that CTP's work is unique in helping to meet the needs of teachers and students across the continent.
Teachers want professional actors and fully realized productions that use Shakespeare's original language and improve comprehension. Students want productions that are clear, insightful, and relevant to their world, as well as value for their time & money. This is the delicate balance that we have struck, and it's the reason we perform Shakespeare for more students than any other theatre company in Canada.
In February 2011, with support from the Canada Council for the Arts, the CTP traveled to the International Performing Arts for Youth Conference to perform Romeo & Juliet as an official Showcase Production. We're proud to have represented Canada on the international stage alongside artists from across the globe, sharing the world's best theatre for students.
Beginning in 2012, CTP has created a partnership with the Toronto Centre for the Arts to move our Toronto productions to the Broadway-quality Main Stage Theatre. In January, our acting company embarked on a multi-city tour of the US, that returns them home in time for our spring season, and we invite you to join us for an extended run of Shakespeare's best-loved plays in Toronto.
Sincerely,
David Galpern & Charles Roy
